Ashley & Jessyca | The Olio Downtown Wedding

July 28, 2022

This wedding blog is extra special because one of the bride is my cousin, Ashley. I was beyond honored for her and her fiancé Jessyca to ask me to not only attend their day but capture it too! They definitely told me 'no pressure' but I jumped on this opportunity. I absolutely couldn't pass and there would be pressure (I want all my couples know how serious I take my job)! My family is from the Boston area so this was another chance to go to a destination and venue I've never been at before.

This was also Mike and I'd first night away without the baby since I've had her. Driving up the night before was relaxing so I wouldn't be scrambling the morning of the day scrambling with travel and traffic! I popped into the suite ahead of time just to check on things and the room was full of familiar faces and both brides were together getting make up and hair! I am all about this 'getting ready' time together. When it was time for the dresses they separated so they could have a sweet first look. It was dang hot out and was definitely quick but got so many images of them just showing off!

The ceremony was absolutely beautiful and their officiant actually introduced the couple. Ashley and Jess met at work and would go to Sam and asked about the other. This is so relatable when you meet that person you just need know from their friends how they really are and if they are single! They also had a friend play violin during and was so good. I found out about Jess after Ashley posted a hammock photo while on vacation, then we met at our annual Thanksgiving. I saw my cousin so truly happy and it made me sing. Jess is so wonderful and the vows were genuine, sweet and some laughs mixed in.

The speeches were also amazing and I even got a shout out! But my favorite photo is Ashley keeled over in laughter from Nicole's speech. What stuck out to me was "be nice to your sister, she will be your best friend" -- something my aunt would say. It is so true and no one loves or fights harder than sisters! Such a unique bond.

The band was nonstop energy and Jess' moves were WOW! I loved being able to enjoy the reception as a guest once the formalities of the night were done. My second photographer, Jessica did such a great job taking over when I wanted to be more guest than vendor and I hope to work with her again!

Ashley and Jess it's been amazing capturing your love story and I wish all the best for your marriage. Welcome to the family!!

All smiles,

Your Cousin Mariel
