Lodge at Maneely's | The Sheas

September 6, 2018

Watching these two cuties get married at Maneely's Lodge in South Windsor was a dream! I have been so excited about their day since last fall (see their engagement session here) and it finally came together so perfectly. With rain and thunderstorms taking place all week the forecast finally cleared and the sun came out! So many other lucky things happened from the rain, a ladybug on the flowers, and the "blood" moon lunar phase.

They met as many people do these days....online! Teresa explains their love story best:

Ryan and I met on E-harmony. I actually reached out first. I told my mom this was the last E-harmony date I would go on. If I liked the person, it would be meant to be, but if I didn't I was giving up this whole "online dating thing." Ryan and I went on our first date November 22, 2015 at a restaurant in Old Wethersfield. I was so nervous, but was so excited. I remember walking in, seeing him standing in the entry way, just feeling at ease. All my nerves were wiped away! He likes to say that he knew I was the one, right in that moment. We had a great time that night, chatting and laughing. The rest was history! We've been together ever since.

People always say when its right, you'll know and its is so true.
Two short years later Ryan decided to pop the question on a special date: July 8, 2017- Ryan's dad's birthday.

We went to Chili's to celebrate Ryan's dad's birthday that evening. Ryan had asked me earlier in the day if I wanted to go to Sunrise Park in Suffield, He wanted to show me is "Eagle Scout" project. I didn't think anything of it , and said "sure, I guess." Well, we finished with dinner, had ice cream, and then went to Sunrise Park. The whole ride there, it was down pouring. Ryan was very determined to go to the park, all I kept thinking about were my suede shoes haha However, he was so determined, I would go for him. We got to the park, walked down the path, and stepped on the docks that over looked a beautiful scenery of trees and water. As soon as I stepped foot onto the dock, the skies opened up, and it miraculously stopped raining. Ryan was very quiet. I tried to get him talking, however he couldn't seem to get any words out, other than "Teresa Jean, Will you Marry me?" He got down one knee and popped the question! I couldn't believe it! I looked down at the ring, and of course said yes. The best part was Ryan's sister, Holly and her boyfriend Nick, were hiding in the bushes the whole time taking pictures of our proposal :-)

Thank you guys so much for letting me into your family for the day and document all the love <3

All smiles, Mariel
