Mariel Monthly | January 2021

January 31, 2021

I started this series last year when there were so many high hopes for 2020! For all the time spent in the house during quarantine I did manage to have an eventful year. Just like any January the feeling in the air is of re-birth and feeling fresh. I have so many ideas and want to redo everything in the house that I made Mike a bit nuts with all my research and talking about this or that. I did get some cabin fever and took a drive to Marlborough Barn and even though it was closed I got to just spend time driving around and getting some me time!

We started a diet just for overall health and Mike decided on the Mediterranean diet. I have always heard that they are the healthiest people and when he suggested it I went along. Lots of fish, whole grains, fruit and vegetables - sounds easy right? It is for him because he is a man and loses weight so simply. I did get a yoga mat for Christmas and I have tried to do a bit of working out but the dogs tend to distract me often.  I mixed up some of my essential oils to maximize their benefits and help on the healthy front. I made a stress away, tummy and immune boost rollers blends!

One of the best things that happened was the inauguration of a new president and first female VP! I just never thought this day would come but damn it felt good to witness. I couldn't help but feel emotional throughout the whole day. By no means is this a cure all for the problems in our world but I do feel very hopeful! Another reason for me feeling to energized is because after waiting a couple months for my hormone levels to return, some progress is being make in our IVF journey. I am getting some testing done soon and then another implantation is on the horizon. I am so anxious, excited and terrified at the same time. It is such a rollercoaster for sure!

We got just enough snow to make everything look pretty but dang the temps have been frigid - single digits plus a wind chill making it feel extra cold! We took some walks of course but quick ones! Other than that another term started at work so I have been busy grinding away helping my students (still from home)! Next month is love month and I am see what it all has in store <3
