Megan & Cole | Valley Falls Snowy Engagement

February 3, 2021

First photoshoot of the new year!! When the day prior to this session was in the single digits it made me really hesitant to photograph mostly because I was nervous for my couple! I always want my couples to be carefree, comfortable and definitely not cold! This winter has been mild so far with only one storm worth mentioning. When there was something in the forecast mid-last week I got a DM from Megan hoping to schedule our session asap! She wanted snow and was hoping that the inch (maybe two) that we got would stay around for the weekend. Let me tell you the dusting that covered the state couldn't be more perfect!

As I layered up with leggings, jeans, thick socks snow boots, sweater, coat, gloves, hat & scarf, I was ready to tackle the afternoon. When I arrived at Valley Falls in Vernon the lot was filled with people who were taking their dogs for walks and ice skaters enjoying their day. There are those that really love the winter!

Megan and Cole were relaxed and very natural in front of the camera. They are getting married in June and their wedding photos are going to be a stark contrast to their engagement ones. Megan's coat was a bold contrast against the snow and the mint green and blue second look they had was bright and light which I love! The falls were raging as well and the lake was frozen solid. We didn't trek too far on the trails but the enchanted forest had glowy light and we didn't even have to jump in the car for warmth. These two were such troopers and I loved hearing about their travels to Greece and when it is safe again planning their honeymoon to another European country!

Excited to see you both in a few months time and celebrate!

All Smiles,

Mariel
