Wadsworth Mansion | Venue Spotlight

April 7, 2021

One of my very first second shooting experience happened at the Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown, Connecticut. I was gob smacked driving up the long stately driveway with huge trees and a stone wall covered in moss. All of a sudden the trees cleared a bit and there it is...The Mansion! White columns and bright façade with a parking lots to either side for guests or other service vehicles for their events.

The mansion history is amazing! I don't know about you but I love feeling the stories that the walls hold. I have done a couple of styled shoots here and the grounds have a stunning vista with a balcony you can over look it. There are tall wooded trees and a rose garden, perfect for a ceremony. Recently because of Covid restrictions a tent has gone up with stunning floral chandeliers on the back patio which accommodates more spacing and certain guest counts. I like that the dance floor is in the middle that way your guests can eat in the side rooms if they don't want to be part of all the action of a wedding reception. The cocktail hour and toasts can mingle and flow onto that back patio as well.

I have also done and engagement shoot on the grounds and used the moss covered Carriage drive. The mansion goes right into Wadsworth Falls State Park which is acres of hiking and trails. It really is a perfect gem in Connecticut full of history but can really host a modern elegant event!
